Borsci

The Borsci family has been making Puglia's traditional bitter liquor for over 175 years. As the Borsci family fled the Ottoman conquest of the Caucasus in 1840, they landed in the little hamlet of San Marzano di San Giuseppe in Puglia, where Giuseppe began bottling and selling their liqueur. Already from the start, Giuseppe labeled his bottles of liquor in gold with the Albanian flag and a double-headed eagle. Before its bankruptcy in 2012, the distillery in Taranto, Puglia was still owned and operated by the Borsci family. The Italian CAFFO Group took over the business in 2013 and has been slowly but surely reviving manufacturing and publicity for this vintage liqueur. Edigio Borschi, the fourth generation to create his family's spirit, is the production manager for Borsci San Marzano, and he is dedicated to upholding the company's longstanding devotion to quality and tradition.
