About Poema

Quinta do Louridal is a family-owned boutique winery situated in the Alvarinho DO Region Monção e Melgaço in Portugal. For generations, the art of winemaking has been passed down within the family, dating back to the XVII century. The family's deep respect for nature and dedication to their craft led to the creation of their limited and numbered edition Poema wine, produced in the Albarinho cradle of Portugal.

In 2000, the vineyards underwent a restructuring led by Hermínio and Maria de Fátima, who were later awarded the Chevalier de l'Ordre du Mérite Agricole by the French Ministry of Agriculture in 2003. Inspired by their rich history and the stunning landscape, the Poema brand was born to carry the family legacy forward.

As the smallest property represented by T. Edward Wines, Poema boasts only 1.5 hectares of vineyards integrated into their total property of 3 hectares. Now in its sixth generation of vine growers, the winery produces fewer than 11,000 bottles annually. Poema wine is aged for 12 months on lees in stainless steel tanks, and then for another twelve months in the bottle. This aging process allows the Alvarinho to improve with time. Nestled in the heart of the Minho River Valley, Poema's vineyards are protected by the surrounding Galician mountains and the region's unique microclimate.

The region experiences hot, dry summers with cool nights and cold, humid winters, creating the perfect conditions for fresh and elegant Poema wines. The breathtaking landscape, rich with flora and fauna, adds a touch of magic to this inspiring corner of the world.
