In 2012, after drinking many bottles of German and Austrian table wine, Matthew Plympton of Revel Wine and Steve Matthiasson of Matthiasson Wines joined forces. The plan was to provide reasonably priced, well-balanced wines suitable for a weekday meal or a picnic. Over the past decade, the project's wine lineup has expanded from a single white wine to include varietally-labeled Vermentino, Cortese, and Mataro wines, as well as a rosé. Red Wine is an Italian blend that features Barbera as the primary grape and Aglianico and Montelpulciano as supporting players. Sulfur dioxide is now the only additive to the wines, and all of the fruit used in the wines is grown organically.
