12 Volts

Islas Baleares, Spain

About 12 Volts

12 Volts is a red wine from Mallorca prepared by 4 kilos. This winery is located in the city of Felanixt, southeast of the island of Mallorca. The grapes used in 12 Volts are primarily Callet and Fogoneu from Mallorca (60%) and Syrah (20%), Cabernet (10%), and Merlot (10%). The vineyards where these grapes are cultivated adhere to an analytical and minimal interventionist approach to producing wine. The grapes are picked by hand and processed in small batches. Once at the winery, maceration and fermentation take place in stainless steel tanks, initially at a controlled temperature of 20 degrees, and eventually rising to 28 degrees. Maceration is a 20-day process. Malolactic fermentation then occurs in the same stainless steel tanks. The final step is a nine-month maturing process in foudres (3000 liters) and 225-liter (2nd and 3rd year) French oak barrels. Francesc Grimalt and Sergio Caballero claim that their red wine, 12 volts, links with the neurological system and gives you energy. 12 volts is full of vitality. A wine with a fantastic Balearic spirit, made from a blend of the Mallorcan varietals Callet and Fogoneu with the international types Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. One of the winery's distinguishing features is the exceptional creativity of its labels. In this occasion, 12 Volts features artwork by modern artist and designer Gary Baseman on the label.
