Grenache Rorick Family Vineyard - 2018
The Forlorn Hope wines are the result of a project devoted to displaying the wealth of California's viticultural potential as well as championing varieties less common. Winemaker Matthew Rorick is a one-man operation in the winery, tending each fermentation and guiding the wine's cellaring through to bottle. Pale in hue and aromatically exuberant, this Grenache has got quite a bit to say. Texturally arresting, it wants you to understand that it was grown on soils which leave and indelible mark on the palate presence of its wines. But most compelling of all, this wine is possessed of a sense of dynamic energy that holds its disparate elements in balance.
