The Rugiens have single-handedly shaped the public's conception of Pommard wines as a whole, which tend to be robust and earthy in character. You can't find a better Pommard than this! Consistently lauded for its uniqueness and high standard. The force of this climate is distinctive, therefore the winemaker needs to be a master of composition to avoid producing a wine with a too rustic flavor profile. For generations, Les Rugiens have garnered praise and been vinified as a single cuvée. In the 19th century, they will be regarded with the Cortons as Beaunois' finest wines. When the town was demoted from grand cru status in the 1930s, the once-high regard for its wine began to wane in favor of the village's actual name. A less open nose, but with some aromatic richness. Fresh, powerful, delectable, and always evolving. Light tannins near the end. Excellent, and will last a little longer than Pézerolles." Potential lifespan: 10-15 years. Temperature for tasting: 16-18°C. Pairings: grilled or confit red meats, aged cheeses.
