About Anthony Thévenet

Anthony Thévenet is a young and passionate winemaker who represents the new generation of defenders of purity and legacy in the world of Cru Beaujolais. In 2010, he inherited his grandfather's vineyard in Villié-Morgon, which included a selection of vines ranging from 40 to 150 years old. The same year, he began working alongside Jean Foillard and George Descombes in the vineyard and cellar, refining his skills and developing his passion for vin naturel for six years before releasing his first vintage in 2013. In 2014, Thévenet inherited a vineyard in Côte du Py Morgon, widely regarded as one of the most magical sites in all of Beaujolais. Over the years, he expanded his holdings by acquiring 0.7 hectares of vines in Beaujolais-Villages and farming 2.5 hectares of Chénas. Thévenet's wines are fermented in a mix of old wood and concrete tanks and, depending on the vintage, the fruit goes through 10 to 25 days of carbonic maceration. He employs natural methods such as indigenous yeasts and no pump-overs, and bottles his wines unfined and unfiltered. Thévenet's commitment to natural winemaking and the legacy of the region has earned him a reputation as one of the most promising young winemakers in the Beaujolais region. In 2018, he received the coveted Young Winemaker of the Year award from the Revue du Vin de France.
