About Domaine Marc Roy

Domaine Marc Roy is a small, fiercely independent estate in Gevrey-Chambertin, built across generations and now entirely in the hands of Alexandrine Roy (owner, producer, and winemaker). What began as a few blocks of vines under her grandfather Marc's care has grown, through passion and patience, into an estate of almost four hectares producing some of the most carefully tended wines in the area.

Alexandrine took over the domaine alongside her parents in 2003, inheriting not just the land but a philosophy rooted in intuition and respect. Over the years she has worked consistently to deepen the quality of the wines, guided by sensitive, good-sense farming that follows the land rather than imposing upon it. When her mother Régine passed in 2016, the estate lost one of its quiet pillars, though that same year, Alexandrine's daughter Romanée was born, and a new generation took its first steps on the family estate. Romanée, now ten, is already following in her mother's and grandfather's footsteps.

The estate covers almost four hectares: 3.5 planted with Pinot Noir across four distinctive cuvées of Gevrey-Chambertin, and 0.5 with Chardonnay producing a rare white Marsannay, Les Champs Perdrix. The Pinot Noir cuvées range from the Vieilles Vignes (drawn from vines around 80 years old) to La Justice, a single block Alexandrine acquired in 2010, the Clos Prieur, bordered by the Grands Crus of Mazis-Chambertin, and the Cuvée Alexandrine, crafted since 2005 from a selection of millerandées grapes.

Alexandrine works with just two other team members as well as Marc still lending a hand; because, as she puts it, a winegrower never really leaves the vines. For harvest, the team expands to a close circle of family friends who return each year with the same commitment the estate was built on. There is no negociant activity, no ambition to grow beyond what the land can offer with integrity. Alexandrine wants the domaine to feel like a garden, and the wines to be haute couture: precise, considered, and entirely their own.
