About Hacienda de Bañuelos

Founded in 1915 by Cirpriano Bañuelos Gonzalez, Hacienda de Bañuelos is a fourth-generation taberna (distillery). The Bañuelos family is reviving mezcal production in Zacatecas, a state just north of Jalisco; currently distillation is managed by Jaime Bañuelos (3rd generation) and the agave fields are managed by Francisco and Fortino Bañuelos (4th generation). Hacienda de Bañuelos mezcals showcase the mineral-rich soil of Southern Zacatecas with organic farming practices - the agave Tequilana (Blue Weber) is propogated with hijuelos, while the Tepemete and Masparillo are both wild agaves harvested on the family's property, with the seeds from these flowering agave plants being collected for the next generation of plants.
