Maison Stephan

Jean-Michel Stephan and his son Romain produce exceptional Rhône wines in Côte-Rôtie, using only organic-certified vineyards and without adding or subtracting anything during the vinification process. Their estate was established in 1991 with only 2 hectares of land about 40 km south of Lyon, and they farm their 10 hectares of Serine, Syrah, and Viognier according to the principles of Jules Chauvet. The terrain is tough, and working by hand is a necessity due to erosion hazards and the steep and inaccessible nature of the terrain. Jean-Michel and Romain Stephan are one of only two certified Organic producers in the appellation, and their wines are characterized by their purity, admirable freshness, and an irresistibly unique character.
