Marchand-Tawse
In 2006, Montreal-born Pascal Marchand, who began making wines in Burgundy in 1985, decided to start a "garagiste" type micro-negociant label under his own name, based in Nuits-St-Georges. Marchand had managed Domaine Comte Armand in Pommard for 15 years and Domaine de la Vougeraie for 7 years. In 2009, Pascal entered a partnership with his longtime friend from Toronto, Moray Tawse, and the label became Marchand-Tawse. Together, they acquired and renovated buildings and old cellars in the center of Nuits-St-Georges, creating a state-of-the-art winery. Marchand-Tawse also began purchasing vineyard plots in the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits. They currently farm 7.5 hectares, representing 18 different appellations and approximately 30% of their actual supply. They produce around 40 more appellations yearly, thanks to longstanding relationships with local growers, for a total production of approximately 12,000 cases. This partnership has allowed Marchand-Tawse to grow, combining their expertise and passion to create exceptional wines that showcase the unique terroir of Burgundy.
