About Poco a Poco
Sustainability is at the core of Poco a Poco Wines. In the vineyard we do not use the quick fixes of conventional farming but instead look to the slow and healthy practices of Organic and Biodynamic farming. We use soil revitalizing cover crops, compost from animals that live close to the vineyard and often use a shovel to remove weeds when spraying herbicides would be so much faster and cheaper.
All the Poco a Poco wines are made from Organic grapes and half are Biodynamic. Not all of our growers are certified but they all adhere to the standards. Most of the grapes are sourced from Mendocino County where we can find high quality grapes for a good value, many more Organic vineyards, and a down to earth attitude. When the grapes arrive at the winery they are treated with care and processed in small batches. The wines are made using indigenous yeast and bacteria and are aged in neutral French oak barrels. When the wines are ready they are bottled unfined and unfiltered. Nothing is added to the wine except for small amounts of sulfur.
