Robert Sinskey Vineyards is a second generation, family-owned and operated vineyard and winery. Since 1991, RSV has been practicing regenerative agriculture and a “whole farm” (Biodynamic) philosophy. RSV’s vineyards are farmed organically (certified) and Biodynamically (not certified). In addition, Rob and Maria are focused biodiversity in the vineyard and working with nature. Robert Sinkey Vineyards has been a guiding light and one of the inspirations for organic, regenerative agriculture in California. In the winery, Jeff Virnig, RSV’s winemaker for over 25 years, looks to make wines that are balanced and true to their origin and variety.
The fruit for the 2023 Violet Aries was grown in the Three Amigos Vineyards, one of RSV’s coolest locales due to its proximity to the San Pablo Bay. The grapes were hand harvested, gently destemmed, and whole-berry fermented at very cool temperatures. This long and cool fermentation adds to the complexity of the wine and helps preserve freshness in the wine. The Violet Aries is a vibrant expression of Pinot Noir, highlighting what RSV does best – crafting California wines that are inspired by the Old World with well farmed grapes.
