| Climate: | Northern California experienced another cool and wet winter, which kept the vines dormant through late March and early April. The springtime brought a mix of heat spells followed by cool and wet weather. Initial predictions were for a later harvest, but the warm summer months hastened the growing cycle of the vines. |
| Fermentation: | The winemaking process began with full destemming of the grapes, followed by a brief cold maceration in open-top fermenters. Subsequently, spontaneous fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks. Depending on the batch, the wine was pressed after either 18 or 28 days of fermentation. |
| Elevage: | The wine was aged for 20 months in 60-gallon French oak barriques, with 30% of the barrels being new. |
| ABV | 14.0% | Sizes | 750ml |
ABOUT THIS BOTTLE
Plum, sage, and violet emerge as the primary flavor descriptors of this wine, reflecting the intense and expressive character of fruit nurtured on Atlas Peak's mountainous terrain. Bright, wild, and pure flavors showcase the wine's high-elevation origin above the fog line, capturing the essence of Atlas Peak's stony red earth and the dense California chaparral enveloping the vineyard.
The winemaking approach is dedicated to preserving the site's unique terroir. Through fermentation with native yeasts and bottling without fining or filtration, the true character of the mountain fruit is allowed to shine through, resulting in a wine that embodies the distinctive qualities of its elevated origins.
