The Erigone wines represent centuries of winemaking tradition of the region, originally
known as Contea, that straddled the borders of Austria, Slovenia and Italy. The vineyards
here were classified under a Cru structure in 1787 by Empress Maria-Theresa of Austria
and Alis and Charles-Louis have strived to farm and bottle their wines accordign to
this historical classification. This first-growth Refosco comes from a three hectare site
known as Gaugnaz. It is a joyful bottle of wine - while the fruit character leans toward
plums and blackberry, the acidity gives a jolt of bright raspberry before a spicy finish.
