Halo by Trefethen Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
California , United States
| Type: | Still Red Wine |
| Varietals: | 98% Cabernet Sauvignon | 2% Petit Verdot |
| Region: | California , Napa Valley |
| Climate: | The preceding winter, which marked our second consecutive drought year, featured the lowest rainfall total in our entire history, going back to 1968. The vines grew vigorously during the warm and dry spring as the vineyard team did an excellent job with early weed control and irrigation. The summer months, from June through September, were all cooler than average, which slowed down the ripening process and allowed for fantastic flavor development. The yields were lower than usual, given the drought conditions, but the resulting wines are all excellent and reflect our unique location in the Oak Knoll District at the cooler southern end of Napa Valley. |

ABOUT THIS BOTTLE
HaLo is named for Hailey and Lorenzo, the third generation of Trefethens, and honors the family's future as part of the estate's Legacy Collection. Sourced entirely from the Hillspring Vineyard, where shallow, rocky soils and a climate shielded from fog and wind allow for truly exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine reflects the estate's most distinctive terroir.
An elegant bouquet of dried rose petal, cherry, and plum unfolds with hints of tobacco, white pepper, and wet stone, layered with subtle woodsy depth. On the palate, the wine shows the hallmark intensity of Hillspring fruit, with a rich mid palate texture and bright flavors of dried cherry, plum skin, and crushed blueberry carrying through to a long, focused finish. It shines alongside rich, high fat dishes, think triple cream Brie or a hearty ribeye, and Winery Chef Chris Kennedy recommends buttery fish or other indulgent, savory pairings while avoiding high acid dishes.
