AITIA is a project from Laura Brennan Bissell that is focused on the Underwood Mountain terroir of the Columbia Gorge. The Pear Ridge Vineyard is on the Washington side of the Columbia Gorge, neighboring Laura's estate vineyard. The vineyard is dry farmed, as well as regeneratively and organically.
The 2022 Tempranillo was native yeast fermented and saw 18 months of ageing in neutral oak before bottling. The wine is unfined, unfiltered, and saw a minimal amount of SO2. This red wine is a departure from the common interpretation of Tempranillo. Instead of a flavor profile dominated by oak treatment, this bottling is about the nuances of Tempranillo. Flowers, earth, delicate fruit are framed by elegant tannin.
