About Continuum
The Mondavi family has been making wine in the Napa Valley for over 100 years. Few families have had the influence that they have on not only California wine, but the world of wine. Continuum is the continuation of the Mondavi winemaking legacy.
Continuum was founded in 2005 by Tim Mondavi, Marcia Mondavi Borger, and their families. While the first few vintages were sourced from To-Kalon, a site of great pedigree and representing the family’s past. Now, Continuum is centered on the Mountain Sage Vineyard on the slopes of Pritchard Hill.
In line with its name, Continuum wine is not static; it isn’t made by formula. This wine, and its wine making, are in motion, slowly changing over time. Whether that is the shifting proportion of more Cabernet Franc and less Cabernet Sauvignon or the curtailing of new French oak ageing, the winemaking is a meditation on learning and humility. Tim and his team acknowledge that grape growing and wine making are never done. Even with four generations of experience and an incredible amount of institutional knowledge, there is always something to learn. Never resting on their laurels, the Mondavi’s continue to ask questions of themselves and the world of wine; always looking to understand their work more deeply.
Sentium by Chiara Mondavi is a project that reflects the next generation’s voice and vision in California winemaking. Sentium is rooted in the same values as Continuum but is a project all her own. The fruit comes from organically farmed vineyards in Mendocino. Sentium is a companion to Continuum and a glimpse into the future of Mondavi innovation and legacy generation.
Continuum and Sentium are more than two wines. They are a vision. They are more than 100 years of collective experience. They are a celebration and exploration of discovery and learning.
