About Domaine des Chasseignes

Domaine des Chasseignes is a family-run winery based in Sury-en-Vaux, in the northern reaches of the Sancerre appellation. Its roots stretch back to the early twentieth century, when Aurore Dezat’s great-grandfather Alphonse farmed a mix of vines, grains and livestock. Over several generations, the family gradually shifted its focus toward viticulture, expanding its holdings across some of Sancerre’s most distinctive terroirs.

Aurore took the reins of the domaine in 2011, bringing a new focus to estate bottling and the individual expression of each vineyard. Her husband, David Girard, joined her in 2016, and together they have continued to refine both farming and cellar practices, converting the estate to organic viticulture and achieving certification in 2023.

Today, Domaine des Chasseignes farms roughly nine hectares of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir across Sury-en-Vaux, working with the appellation’s three classic soil types: terres blanches, caillottes and silex. Alongside their Sancerre Blanc and Rouge, Aurore and David produce a series of single-vineyard wines, including Les Chasseignes, a historic family parcel. Each cuvée is vinified and aged according to the character of its site, rather than imposing a single cellar formula throughout, resulting in precise, mineral-driven wines that emphasize clarity, freshness and terroir.
