| Winemaker: | Roberto Lorenzo Minuto |
| Elevage: | It then carries out malolactic fermentation and matures in 30 hl Slavonian Stockinger oak casks for 18 months, gaining structure, elegance, and the classic austerity of Nebbiolo. After that it spends 6 months in bottles. |
| Vintage Notes: | The 2021 vintage in Basarin saw a cool spring and a warm, steady summer that ensured slow, even ripening. Pronounced diurnal shifts enhanced aromatic precision and acidity. Nebbiolo was harvested in perfect health, showing bright fruit, fine tannins, and notable tension. Overall, the wines are elegant, vertical, and firmly built for aging. |

ABOUT THIS BOTTLE
Luisin’s Barbaresco “Paolin,” not tied to a single vineyard, is sourced from several parcels across the appellation, with a core from 45-year-old vines in the sandy, south-facing Basarin cru of Neive. The name “Paolin” carries a personal story: when the winery first began releasing wines under its own label, Roberto’s father Paolo was just a young boy of six. In local dialect, “Paolin” means “little Paolo.” Compared to the estate’s other Barbarescos, “Paolin” shows a gentler structure and a slightly more fruit-driven profile.
Barbaresco “Paolin” opens with delicate aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and rose petals, layered with hints of sandalwood, sweet spices, and subtle tobacco. On the palate, it shows a silky, fruit-forward entry that broadens into flavors of ripe red berries, licorice, and a touch of mineral saltiness. The tannins are fine and gentle, lending structure without austerity, while the lively acidity provides freshness and lift.
