About Cascina Luisin
Cascina Luisin’s story begins in 1913, when Luigi Minuto affectionately nicknamed “Luisin,” or “little Luigi” in Piedmontese planted the seeds of what would become one of Barbaresco’s most cherished family estates. Today, his descendant Roberto Minuto continues the legacy, tending to the vineyards with the same care and dedication passed down through generations.
Perched in the heart of the Barbaresco zone, the estate’s 8 hectares stretch across legendary crus such as Rabajà and Asili. Here, calcareous clay soils meet ideal sun exposure, nurturing Nebbiolo grapes of exceptional expression and personality.
Every step in the vineyard reflects a philosophy of low-impact, sustainable farming: grasses cover the soil, treatments are kept to a minimum, and only copper and sulfur are used to protect the vines. In the cellar, tradition guides every choice. Fermentation unfolds slowly in old concrete vats without added yeasts, with macerations lasting from 30 to 60 days sometimes even 90 before the wine rests in large Slavonian Stockinger casks. Sulfur is added only at racking, and the wines are bottled unified and unfiltered, capturing the true spirit of each individual cru. Every bottle tells a story of place, patience, and passion.
