ABOUT THIS BOTTLE
Alexandrine Roy represents the fourth generation of her family to farm in Gevrey-Chambertin, tending just four hectares in the heart of the Côte de Nuits with meticulous care. Clos Prieur sits on the mid-slope at the sourtern end of the appellation, directly
below the Grand Cru Mazis-Chambertin. The soils here are iron and clay over limestone, farmed on vines over 70 years old, fully destemmed and raised on indigenous yeasts with minimal intervention in the cellar. The position of the vineyard is everything. The proximity to Mazis-Chambertin lends the wine a power and structure that sets it apart from Alexandrine’s other cuvées. Dark and intense in the glass. The nose is aromatic and expressive, built around small dark fruits with a touch of spice. On the palate it is energetic, complex and vibrant, with a streak of minerality through the mid-palate that naturally extends the length of the wine.
